Women's Escape to the Inns & Arts of St. Augustine

Are you a woman who enjoys being creative with breakfast cookery? If so, the St. Augustine Historic Inns will help you celebrate your creativity as they open their 27 bed and breakfasts to for a 3-night Women's Escape to the Inns & Arts of St. Augustine, September 24 to 26, 2004. You could win free accommodations.

Complementing the dazzling collection of landmark inns, the Women's Escape features art exhibits and workshops from pottery and stained glass, furniture painting, sculpting and batik to watercolor and jewelry making at The Art District at San Sebastian, in addition to some performing arts.

Upon arrival on Friday, Sept. 24, guests will check in at the historic inn of their choice where they will receive a welcome package including the Women's Escape Breakfast Collection cookbook.

Accommodating a maximum of 75 women, personalized attention during the event is guaranteed as guests explore the shopping, dining, culture and beauty of one of America's best small art towns.

In addition to a homemade breakfast at each participating inn plus the amenities that the individual inns offer, the Women's Escape Package ($125 in addition to the bed and breakfast accommodations that are selected) includes a three-day itinerary of memorable events:

Welcome Wine Tasting & Hors d'eouvres Dinner Reception at San Sebastian Winery, featuring noted art historian David Nolan (author of "The Houses of St. Augustine").

Artists Sydney McKenna, Jean Tromel, Jean Light-Willis and Shirley de Passquale.

Two days exploring the methods and mediums of St. Augustine's finest artists through workshops, exhibits, discussions and gallery hopping.

Plenty of time to shop, dine around, have a massage, do yoga on the beach and your other favorite "girl getaway" activities.

Private performance of a professional show at The Limelight Theater.

Dinner at Raintree, one of St. Augustine’s favorite special occasion restaurants for fine dining, as the finale to a memorable weekend.

The Contest:

If you want to "write your way" to the Women’s Escape, send a favorite breakfast recipe (Casserole, Baked goodie or Fruit dish) to the address below in order to qualify for the Grand Prize.

Contestants are invited to submit a typewritten recipe (one page only) and a brief story of the recipe's origin. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th runners-up will win cash prizes from $50-$100. All submissions will be reviewed by the Women's Escape committee and be included in our Women's Escape Breakfast Collection cookbook.

The deadline for entry is August 15, 2004.

The Grand Prize consists of complimentary 3-night stay at 63 Orange Street and the $125 Women's Escape Package. (Transportation to St. Augustine is not included.)

If the winner chooses to bring a guest to share her room, there will be an additional $125 Escape Package charge for her guest only, but no additional person room charge.
