The Latest on Online High Schools
Monday April 30, 2007
Having just published the book, Complete Guide to Online High Schools: Distance learning options for teens & adults , author Thomas Nixon has just updated an article he wrote three years ago for this site to reflect the latest on online high schools.Tom highlights some of the changes: "When I first tackled this topic in 2003, there were some online high schools out there, but more were in the planning stages. Since that time, that market has grown exponentially. There are now over a hundred online high schools and many more to come. The big boys have come to town. The Apollo Group, they of the University of Phoenix, just bought Insight Schools in Washington. Stanford University, just this year, started an online high school for gifted students. Online high schools are being noticed."
Available on Amazon.com, Complete Guide to Online High Schools is the first book to focus exclusively on online high schools. The book's companion website, BestOnlineHighSchools.com, offers further information and lists accredited online high schools.
