Williams Pond Lodge, a bed and breakfast in Bucksport, Maine, is completely off the grid. In other words, they do not rely on a utility to provide electricity. Instead, the inn is powered by solar panels. In fact, Williams Pond Lodge recently was featured on the annual Maine Solar Tour and the B&B has been certified as an "Environmental Leader" by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. Innkeepers David Weeda and Dominick Rizzo offer two guest rooms, with rates ranging from $120 to $155 per night. The B&B is surrounded by 20 acres of woodlands and has more than 3,000 feet of frontage on the 112-acre Williams Pond.
Do you know of any other bed and breakfasts that operate off the grid? If so, please post a note in the comments section below.

The Milkweed Mercantile, which is being built at Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage in Rutledge, Missouri, is going to be completely off the grid. It is a two-story strawbale building that will be using solar and wind for power, caught rainwater for domestic use and other features.
