Maui Can Have 400 Bed and Breakfasts
Monday December 22, 2008
Maui's county council has adopted an ordinance allowing up to 400 bed and breakfasts to operate on the Hawaiian island, according to a report in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. The newspaper reported that 400 is "the number estimated to have been in operation before a crackdown on illegal bed-and-breakfast businesses." Some residents are concerned that the number is too high, but only one council members voted no as the bill was approved, 7-1.
