Hiking from Inn to Inn in Vermont
Monday January 26, 2009
This sounds like a fantastic vacation idea: hiking from inn to inn. Writer Ilana Debare recently chronicled her experience combining hiking with some wonderful bed and breakfasts in Vermont for the San Francisco Chronicle. "Europeans have a long tradition of inn-to-inn walking, from tromping between lodges in the Swiss Alps to doing what the British call rambling between cottages in England’s Lake District," she writes. "Inn-to-inn hiking allows you to immerse yourself in nature and see the countryside in a much slower, more intimate way than sightseeing from a car."
Ilana and her husband planned their trip with help from Country Inns Along the Trail, which provides both guided and self-guided vacation packages for individuals, families and groups.
