Actor Richard Gere (best known for movies such as Pretty Woman and An Officer and a Gentleman) and his wife, actress Carey Lowell (best known for her roles in the film License to Kill and the television series Law & Order), have opened a bed and breakfast in Bedford, New York. The Bedford Post Inn launched with a "soft opening" in July. According to an article in New York Magazine, Gere wants the eight-room B&B to be "a place where the minds of people who could change the world would meet."

Erika, thank you for the comment. The article does note that “As of fall 2008, it appeared that Spelling and McDermott had given up the innkeeping profession.” I’ll make the current status more clear, but I expect to leave the article posted as a reminder of an… interesting celebrity innkeeper experience.
