Amsterdam Castle B&B, Former Armory

Monday October 19, 2009

In Amsterdam, New York, about 30 miles northwest of Albany, travelers can stay in a bed and breakfast which used to serve as an armory for the New York National Guard. Built in 1894, the 36,000-square-foot Amsterdam Castle is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Two 1,500-square-foot wings are available for B&B guests. Innkeeper Susan Phemister recently told The Saratogian that she and her husband, Manfred, are also interested in renovating an old church.
