Many aspiring innkeepers say the financial benefits are one of the reasons they want to open a bed and breakfast. But it's probably not realistic to expect to earn your entire living from the operation of a small (four rooms or less) bed and breakfast. On the other hand, if you're looking for a way to supplement your income, a bed and breakfast in your home can provide some other financial benefits. Can making your living totally from a 4 room B&B be a reality? Of course there are many variables, but yes, we are living proof that you can. You must be very savvy with the property you purchase. Make sure you have a big down payment, of course location, location, location, and with smart/knowledgeable niche marketing it can happen. Is it the norm? No, but you also have to create a B&B that is not the norm. Not everyone has millions of dollars at their disposal to purchase a large inn. A small inn can still be an option, but you must have the right knowledge before you buy to make it a reality.
