Bed and Breakfasts in the Bronx, Queens and Staten Island
Inns in three of New York City's five boroughs

By Elizabeth Arneson, About.com

To some, New York City may not seem like a place to find gorgeous bed and breakfasts. But tucked away in each of the Big Apple's five boroughs -- Brooklyn, Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens and Staten Island -- are dozens of terrific inns.

The Bronx

  • Le Refuge Inn
Six rooms and two suites are available at this 1820 French country inn, formerly a sea captain's house, on City Island. Accommodations, which include breakfast, provide a marina or garden view. Guests can reserve a table for Sunday brunch or a prix fixe dinner most evenings in the inn's dining room, which is managed by chef Pierre Saint-Denis, owner of Manhattan's acclaimed Le Refuge restaurant. This B&B also hosts a Sunday afternoon chamber music concert series. A two-night minimum stay may be required on weekends.

Queens

  • Blue House at LaGuardia, The
Located minutes from LaGuardia Airport in the East Elmhurst area of Queens, the Blue House offers two guest rooms with a king or queen bed on the second floor of this 1900 Spanish Colonial villa. Guests have access to a business center with computer, printer, cable modem and fax/answering machine. A full breakfast buffet is provided, and children and dogs are welcome.

  • Patrice-Lorie Company
A heated outdoor swimming pool, patio and private entrance are among the features of this child-friendly B&B in the Hollis area of Queens. The 1906 Colonial home provides one guest room with kitchenette and serves a continental breakfast.

Staten Island

  • Harbor House Bed and Breakfast, The
Offering views of the Manhattan skyline, Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor, this bed and breakfast in the Rosebank area of Staten Island contains a suite with kitchen on the first floor, two suites and three rooms on the second floor, and five rooms on the third floor. Children are welcome and a continental breakfast is provided.

  • Stanbrook Manor
An 1880s Victorian mansion, the eight-room Stanbrook Manor can be found in Staten Island's Stapleton Homeport section. Innkeeper Karen Stanbrook welcomes children and pets and serves a continental breakfast.

  • Victorian Villa
There are three queen-bed apartments with living room, kitchen and bath in this child- and pet-friendly 1890 Victorian home, which is located in New Brighton, Staten Island. Breakfast is not provided; a two-night minimum stay is required.
