Rails: Among the lodging options in these restored 25-ton N-5 cabooses are: Couples Caboose, half a caboose car with a double bed; Family Caboose, with a double bed and four bunks; Efficiency Caboose, with a double bed, four bunks and a kitchenette; Caboose Suite, with a queen bed and love seat or two double beds, plus a microwave and refrigerator; Mail Car Suite, with a double bed, love seat, microwave and refrigerator; Honeymoon Caboose, with the features of a suite, plus a whirlpool bath and private deck; and The Broadway Limited, for large groups.

Rails: In the Hill Country of central Texas, the Antlers boasts three Norfolk & Western Railroad cabooses, each with a queen bed, two small bunks, a kitchenette, outdoor grill and picnic table. There is also the McKinley Coach, an 1880s wooden combination car that ran on the International and Great Northern through Austin. The coach offers one king and two twin beds, a small living/dining room and a kitchenette.

More: Six rooms and suites occupy the 1901 hotel, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and six cabins are found on the 15-acre grounds, featuring nature trails and a fruit orchard. The Antlers supplies 1,500 feet of waterfront property on Lake LBJ that includes four docks, three covered boat slips and a jet ski ramp. Another historic building on-site is a renovated 1890s train depot, now serving as a country store and antique shop. Kingsland is located about 60 miles northwest of Austin.

Rails: At the back of this restaurant and inn property in East Texas sits a Carson & Barnes railroad car, decorated with railroad artifacts and offering a full-size sleigh futon, a two-person shower, a refrigerator and an outdoor Jacuzzi.

Rails: The Santa Fe Railroad Car is a renovated box car nestled in the woods of this 40-acre child-friendly bed and breakfast on the banks of the Paluxy River in Texas Hill Country. It can accommodate six guests in its two bunk beds (the two lower beds are double futon sofas) and has a full kitchen and sitting area.
Breakfast: A continental breakfast is left for guests to enjoy at their leisure.

Rails: The 52 wooded acres of the Maison-Bayou feature a Riverfront Railcar and Caboose on the banks of Big Cypress Bayou. Boasting 20 windows and two skylights, the railcar contains a queen bed, sitting area, deck and refrigerator. The Frisco caboose has a full-size bed, deck, refrigerator, microwave and cooktop range.
Breakfast: A full plantation breakfast is provided in the main house for an additional fee.
