GEORGIA

  • Southern Cross Ranch
    Madison, Georgia
    A full country breakfast buffet is served at this 200-acre working guest ranch, which is home to 100 horses as well as an outdoor pool and hot tub. When not taking advantage of the horseback riding program, guests of the 16 rooms (many with king beds and some with Jacuzzi and/or fireplace) can relax in the sunroom, TV room or game room.

MARYLAND
  • Five Gables Inn and Spa
    St. Michaels, Maryland
    A heated pool shares room indoors with a steam room and sauna at this Chesapeake Bay inn, which offers 11 rooms and three suites (all with king or queen beds, Jacuzzi tubs, and fireplaces) in its three 1860 buildings. There is also a full-service spa on-site.

SOUTH CAROLINA
  • Palmer Home Bed and Breakfast
    Charleston, South Carolina
    One suite and two guest rooms, offering king or queen beds, antiques and Charleston Harbor views, are located on the third floor of the 1848 Palmer Home Bed and Breakfast. Pets are welcome in the Carriage House suite, which provides two bedrooms overlooking the swimming pool and harbor. Guests of this East Battery home can enjoy their full breakfast in the formal dining room, in their bedroom or on the piazza.

    Summerville, South Carolina
    This 1883 Victorian mansion with wide porches and three queen-bed suites is nestled on two acres of lush gardens with a swimming pool. It is located about 25 miles from Charleston.

VIRGINIA
  • Edgewood Plantation
    Charles City, Virginia
    Edgewood Plantation, an 1849 example of Carpenter's Gothic architecture, serves a full plantation candlelight breakfast to guests of its eight rooms, six in the main house and two in the former slave quarters. The estate includes a swimming pool, formal gardens and a wooded stream and is available for group tours, weddings, Victorian tea parties, meetings and banquets. During the Civil War, Confederate generals who were camped at nearby Berkeley Plantation used the third floor of this bed and breakfast as a lookout post, and area residents used its living room as a church. Charles City is located 25 miles west of Williamsburg and 23 miles southeast of Richmond.

  • Prospect Hill Plantation Inn
    Charlottesville, Virginia
    The Sheehan family, innkeepers of this 18th-century plantation on 50 acres of manicured grounds with a pool and gardens, invites guests to join them for a wine reception and five-course dinner as part of the experience at this bed and breakfast. In addition to five guest rooms in the manor house, there are the boys' cabin, circa 1699, the oldest building on the grounds; the 1720s summer kitchen cottage; the 1740s overseer's cottage; the 1790 slave quarters, with two rooms; the 1850s carriage house suite; the groom's quarters, above the carriage house; and Sanco Pansy's cottage, originally the residence of a former slave. A full country breakfast is served to guests in their room or in the dining room.

  • Belle Meade Bed and Breakfast
    Sperryville, Virginia
    Outside this Victorian farmhouse, set on 138 acres, is a 60-foot pool and a hot tub. Guests of the four rooms and private cottage (all with queen beds) can request a gourmet vegetarian dinner, massage or reiki. A full breakfast is provided, children are welcome, and cottage guests may bring a dog. Sperryville is about 45 miles north of Charlottesville and 80 miles southwest of Washington, D.C.
