Guests of this 1930s Napa Valley house receive complimentary towels and robes for use at the outdoor pool and hot tub. Children are welcome in the three guest suites; each includes a queen bed, kitchen area and private entrance.

In the Sonoma Valley less than an hour north of San Francisco, this 1890 Queen Anne-Italianate inn with a heated outdoor pool and a whirlpool spa has received accolades from several travel guides. There are nine guest rooms; three junior suites with fireplaces, soaking or whirlpool tubs, and private decks; three suites with fireplaces, two-person showers, and whirlpool or soaking tubs (two have private decks); an off-site carriage house apartment; and three off-site cottages. All rooms include king or queen beds, modem access and a two- or three-course gourmet breakfast; massage services are available.

Situated in a mountain mining town about 60 miles from San Diego, the Shadow Mountain Ranch features an indoor lap pool, hot tub, pool table, and full country breakfast. The guest quarters, which all have queen beds, include the Tree House, the Gnome Home, two cottages, and two rooms.

Five minutes from Sea World, an outdoor pool provides water fun at this two-story Mediterranean-style Italian villa, which welcomes children in its one suite and two rooms, all with queen beds. The house can be rented in its entirety, accommodating up to six adults; the owners reside in separate quarters on-site.

With streams and waterfalls passing through its 30-acre grounds, this B&B boasts views of the ocean and Haleakala Crater from its solar-heated Olympic pool and Jacuzzi spa. Among the accommodations available are the Gazebo with a private outdoor shower, the secluded Cliff House perched on a bluff overlooking the ocean, the Tree House with two levels, three Bamboo Octagons with kitchenettes, and a suite or a room in the main house.

In history-rich Lahaina, the first capital of the Hawaiian kingdom, the House of Fountains provides six queen-bed rooms, as well as a pool and Jacuzzi in a tropical garden.
