Can I use my credit card to pay for the room?

By Elizabeth Arneson, About.com

Question: Can I use my credit card to pay for the room?
Answer: Almost always. But there are some bed and breakfasts which do not accept credit cards, including some in major cities. My husband and I have stayed at a New York City B&B that did not accept credit cards. Be sure that you are not surprised when you arrive -- ask before making a reservation.

Many bed and breakfasts requre a deposit to hold a room when you make a reservation. Most often, this is done with a credit card. However, some innkeepers will ask you to send a check.
