Little Palm Island

A luxury bed and breakfast resort in Little Torch Key, Florida

From , former About.com Guide

A natural white sand beach on a private 5-acre tropical island in the Lower Keys is the setting for this 30-suite resort, which has been praised by Frommer's, Fodor's and Travel + Leisure. Accessible only by boat or seaplane, Little Palm Island is situated 28 miles east of Key West and 120 miles southwest of Miami. Rates range from $690 to $1,190 for a Bungalow Suite and from $1,190 to $1,490 for an Island Grand Suite.

Accommodations include 28 oceanfront, thatched-roof Bungalow Suites, each with a king-size canopy bed, sitting room, private veranda and garden, indoor and outdoor showers, and whirlpool bath. There are also two Island Grand Suites, featuring British Colonial furnishings, slate floor, his and hers bathrooms, porch and outdoor hot tub. Guests are provided with robes and slippers but not an in-room TV or phone.

The island locale supplies opportunities for fishing, sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving and eco touring; among the watercraft available are kayaks, canoes, wind surfers, day sailers, water bikes and Sun Kats.

On-site amenities include a library, television room, life-size chess, Zen garden, freshwater pool with waterfall, fitness center and spa. Spa and adventure are among the resort's multi-night packages.

Serving classic European dishes with Floridian, Caribbean and pan-Asian flavors and applauded by AAA, Mobil, Zagat and Golden Spoon, the Little Palm restaurant seats guests in the dining room, on the oceanfront terrace or at beach tables along the water's edge. Per person rates (excluding tax and service) are $135 for the Full Meal Plan (breakfast, three-course lunch and four-course dinner) and $115 for the Modified Meal Plan (four-course dinner plus a choice of breakfast or three-course lunch).
