Cinnamon French Toast

Innkeeper Comments: "The original receipe called for french type bread. We use fresh baked cinnamon bread from our local bakery to give it that extra special touch. Enjoy!"

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • unsliced cinnamon bread
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • powdered sugar
Preparation:
Melt butter, add brown sugar and corn syrup. Combine well.

Spray 13 x 9 inch pan.

Slice bread into 3/4" to 1" thick slices.

Pour butter mixture into baking dish, arrange slices flat in butter mixture, squeeze to fit in.

In blender, mix eggs, milk and vanilla. Pour over bread slices, covering completely.

Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Uncover and bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

Dust with powdered sugar.

Serve right from baking dish. Makes 6-8 servings.
