The Groveland Hotel
Groveland, California -- Innkeeper Peggy Mosley says this inn "is fortunate to have a spirit named Lyle." A gold miner who lived in the Groveland Hotel until he died in "his" room in 1927, Lyle has been known to move women's cosmetics from the dresser to a nearby sink.
Homespun Farm
Griswold, Connecticut -- Innkeeper Kate Bauer says that Old Man Simon, one of the original owners of this 260-year-old home, is now a "guiding spirit" who watches over the property.
Casa de la Paz Bed and Breakfast
St. Augustine, Florida -- Innkeepers Sherri and Marshall Crews report that the spirit living at this B&B is a young woman who lost her love to a boating accident. "She was so distraught that she stayed in St. Augustine and grieved herself to death," they said. "Her spirit has never left the house, waiting for his return."
Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast
Fall River, Massachusetts -- This inn has been a landmark since the murders of Andrew and Abby Borden on Aug. 4, 1892. Many people believe that their daughter, Lizzie, killed them with an ax. (She was acquitted at trial, but no one else was ever charged with the murders.)Thayer's Historic Bed and Breakfast
Annandale, Minnesota -- Innkeeper Sharon Gammell says the couple who built this home, Gus and Caroline Thayer, make frequent visits. "Gus has been know to leave pennies for us to find," she said. "I think it's a way to let us know he's been here."The Notchland Inn
Hart's Location, New Hampshire -- According to innkeeper Ed Butler, there is a tombstone in this bed and breakfast's front parlor which reads, "1778. Nancy Barton. Died in a snowstorm in pursuit of her faithless lover."
Inn on Main Street
Weaverville, North Carolina -- Innkeeper Dan Ward says, "I won't say our inn is haunted." However, he also says, "Our house was built 100 years ago by a doctor. There's a blood stain under the tiles in a bathroom that was once part of his operating room and lab. It wouldn't sand out." And there have been some inexplicable events.
Brookside Manor
Wakefield, Rhode Island -- Brookside Manor has been haunted since 1965, according to innkeeper Robert Vitale. "We purchased the property in 1998," he said, "and since then several workmen and artisans have been visited by the ghost of Charles Fletcher."The Inn at Merridun
Union, South Carolina -- Innkeepers Peggy and Jim Waller report that no fewer than 10 spirits share this bed and breakfast with them and their guests. "We have a history of unusual happenings and occasional sightings."The Texas White House
Ft. Worth, Texas -- Innkeeper Grover McMains reports three "ghostly experiences" at this B&B. In one case, a woman "awoke, feeling someone getting into bed with her. She turned over immediately to see who it was, and, of course, no one was there."
