More About Norumbega Inn:
Built in 1886, the Norumbega Inn has been a distinguished Camden landmark for over 100 years and is listed on the National Historic Registry. Joseph Stearns, a Maine native who invented the duplex telegraphy system, built the stone castle.

Stearns visited castles in Europe and incorporated his favorite features from those castles into Norumbega. Stearns and his family lived in the mansion until his death in 1895. Since then, the castle has had several owners.

Norumbega was converted to a bed and breakfast in 1984.
