The Castle is located in Mt. Savage, Maryland, which is about two hours southeast of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and about two and a half hours west of Baltimore.

Special Features:
This stone B&B was built in 1840 by the Union Mining Company. Later, a businessman from Scotland bought the property, added a third floor and kitchen/library wing, and converted the house into a replica of his home country's Craig Castle. As a finishing touch, the property was surrounded with a 16-foot-tall stone wall. Since then, the building has been used at various times as a dance hall, brothel, casino, and apartments.

During the Great Depression, the owner lost his fortune and sold the house. Since then, the building has gone through many uses. A two-year renovation project began in 1984 before The Castle opened to guests as a bed and breakfast.
The Castle's innkeepers, Tony and Judi Perino, welcome guests with a 4 p.m. refreshment hour in the parlor or on the tiled front terrace. As guests relax, they may hear the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad's steam train make its way along the mountainside.
