Location:
Wilson House Bed and Breakfast is on Mount Royal Terrace at Reservoir Street in the Reservoir Hill neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland, just south of Druid Hill Park. The inn is part of the Mount Royal Terrace Historic District.

Guest Rooms:
Five rooms with private baths are available at this Baltimore bed and breakfast, in addition to two rooms (Newport and Peach) that share a bath.

All rooms have a queen bed, except for the Master Suite, with a king bed plus a sitting area with a queen sleeper sofa, and the Aviary Room, which has a single twin bed and is the only room located on the fourth floor.

Price Range:
Rates range from $90 for the Aviary to $140 for the Master Suite.

Breakfast:
A full breakfast is served in the formal dining room at Wilson House Bed and Breakfast.

Special Features:
Common areas in this Baltimore bed and breakfast include a living room, a music parlor with a 1927 Knabe piano, a library, a sitting area with a television on the second-floor landing, a sunroom/breakfast nook, and white-trimmed porches.

Owners and innkeepers Guy Thomas and his wife Clelia, a native of Peru, offer tea service each afternoon, followed by a wine and cheese reception.

Personal Recommendation:
I booked the Aviary Room for my husband, Erik, when he was attending the Bouchercon mystery convention in Baltimore. He said it is a very private accommodation, providing a feeling of seclusion despite being convenient to everything Baltimore has to offer. Clelia was a gracious host, and breakfast was delicious.

The Aviary Room has a private bath but it is separate from the bedroom. Since the Aviary is the only room on the inn's top floor, this was much less of a concern than it might have been in a higher-traffic area.

More About Wilson House Bed and Breakfast:
This circa 1880 Queen Anne Victorian house boasts four floors, over 10,000 square feet of living space, eight fireplaces, antique furniture and many original chandeliers. The owners purchased the property in 1999 and undertook a major restoration before opening their home as a bed and breakfast in summer 2004.

Upon receiving the presidential nomination at the 1912 Democratic National Convention, which was held a few blocks away in the city's 5th Regiment Armory, Woodrow Wilson gave an acceptance speech from the second-floor balcony of this home, which was owned by J. Kemp Bartlett, a law partner of Democratic party head William Jennings Bryant.
