The Flower Power Duo
A Strange But True Innkeeper Story

A flower power honeymoon couple turned one of our villas into a real spooky temple.

Curtains were always closed and they only left the villa at night. In one of the bedrooms, they created an altar with a picture of a revolting fat "guru" surrounded by candles and incense sticks. All the lights were draped in black cloth and they had raided every single hibiscus bush on our grounds for their flowers. (There were hundreds of flowers; it took our bushes a while to recover!)

Flowers were all over the floor and they had sprinkled the carpet with an overpowering smell. One evening we were so curious that after they had gone out we sneaked in with our 5-year-old nephew. He walked with his hands on his back through the villa, and his comment was, "This is real spooky."

Months later that smell was still lingering. Now the villas are all tiled and some areas have beautiful native matai wood flooring.
