A luxury bed and breakfast in Lenox, Massachusetts

Blantyre
Lenox, Massachusetts

Built in the early 1900s as a summer estate, this Tudor-style country house hotel with leaded glass windows and ivy-covered turrets, manicured lawns and magnificent trees is surrounded by the beauty of the Berkshire hills of western Massachusetts. Andrew Harper's Hideaway Report, Zagat, Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure have all applauded this 100-acre Relais & Chateaux property and recipient of the Mobil Five-Star Award.

A sampling of rates includes $350 for a first-floor Carriage House room, $650 for the Cottage by the Path (with two bedrooms, two baths, a sitting room, kitchenette, fireplace and porch), $800 for the Paterson Suite (with a king bed, two baths, sitting room and fireplace) in the Main House, and $1,300 for the two-story Ice House Cottage (including the downstairs guest room, which can also be reserved alone).

Open from May to November, Blantyre offers 21 rooms and four cottages, all filled with rich fabrics, luxurious furnishings and sophisticated details. There are five rooms and three suites on the second floor of the Main House, 12 rooms in the two-story Carriage House, and one room on the lower floor of the Ice House Cottage.

All rooms have televisions and Internet access through the phone line; the Paterson Suite and Ice House Cottage include two phone lines. Guest quarters may also feature a four-poster canopy bed, fireplace, whirlpool tub, marble bath, sitting room, kitchen, dining table, loft space, hand-painted mural, Oriental rugs, period furnishings, antiques, art, screened porch, balcony or patio.

Guests can enjoy their continental breakfast either in the Blantyre dining room or their own rooms. The restaurant, honored with Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence, serves lunch (in July and August) and dinner (enhanced by harp music) and provides luncheon picnic baskets.

For recreation and relaxation, guests can choose from four Har-Tru tennis courts, two championship bent-grass croquet courts, an outdoor pool, mile-long walking trail, exercise room, Jacuzzi, sauna and in-room massage service.
