More About Blair Hill Inn:
Blair Hill Inn, an 1891 Queen Anne mansion, was built by Lyman Blair, a wealthy Chicago socialite, after he fell in love with the area on a visit to Maine. He built the home on 20-foot-high stone walls, centered to maximize the views of Moosehead Lake. Blair bred animals on the slopes of his hillside from 1891 until his death in 1946.
Innkeepers Dan and Ruth McLaughlin purchased the property in May 1997 and, after restoring it with the aid of a local carpenter, opened the home as a bed and breakfast.
The romantic inn has won acclaim from a variety of publications, including being named one of the top 5 "most visually stunning wedding locations in North America" by Outside magazine in 2005, one of GQ's "10 Perfect Cold Weather Escapes" in January 2007, and being rated three stars (highest rating) by Frommer's.
