More About The Captain Lord Mansion:

Built during the war of 1812 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Captain Lord Mansion has operated as a bed and breakfast for more than 25 years. Shipbuilder Nathaniel Lord had the home built during a time when commerce was disrupted by a British blockade; he used his idle shipwrights to construct the home.

Innkeepers Bev Davis and her husband Rick Litchfield bought the B&B in 1978. When they first laid eyes on The Captain Lord Mansion, it was used primarily as a residence for elderly women. Since the purchase, they have restored every part of the inn. For 23 years, the mansion has received AAA's four-diamond rating.

Kennebunkport is an historic community, full of activities for visitors. Depending on the time of year you visit, options include sea kayaking, taking a look at President George Bush's home (three minutes away), whale watching, horseback riding, sailing on a windjammer, canoeing the Kennebunk River, driving many scenic routes, shopping the unique stores just blocks from The Captain Lord Mansion, riding the town's trolley, and taking a self-guided coastal lighthouse tour.
