More About The Inn at Irving Place: Built in 1834, the two townhouses that make up The Inn at Irving Place and its sister restaurants, Lady Mendl's Tea Salon and Cibar Lounge, was renovated over three years in the early 1990s. The inn's address is the only marking on the outside of the townhouse -- guests won't find a placard with "The Inn at Irving Place" on it.
The two brownstone townhouses were at one point a single-family home. Over the years, they also served as apartments, The Ingersol Mens Club, a speakeasy, and a beauty parlor and day spa. It opened as an inn in December 1994.
