Ashford, Washington, which is about an hour and a half south of Tacoma, Washington, and just outside Mount Rainier National Park.

Guest Rooms:

Cedar Creek Treehouse is a single facility which can accommodate up to five guests. The bedroom is a sleeping loft with two double beds and personal skylights. It is found 50 feet off the ground in a 200-year-old Western Red Cedar tree.

Price Range:

$300 per night for two people, $50 per night for each additional person. A minimum two-night stay is generally required.

Breakfast:

Breakfast is not included in the price, but Cedar Creek Treehouse does have a kitchen area where guests can prepare their own meals.

Special Features:

To reach Cedar Creek Treehouse, guests must cross an 80-foot long suspension foot bridge and then climb a five-story stairwell. (The fourth floor of the stairwell is a glass-enclosed observation area.) The building itself is a two-level, 16' x 16' cottage with 12-volt electric lights, water, a gas stove, an icebox and sink in the kitchen, and a toilet and wash basin in the bathroom.

Cedar Creek Treehouse, built in 1982, has been reviewed by many publications and other media outlets. In 2007, it was chosen by the Travel Channel as one of the top three "extreme hotels" in the world. The Guardian in London called it one of the five best treehouse hotels in the world in 2005. In 2000, Oprah featured it on her television show. And in 1998, it was featured on the back cover of Fine Homebuilding magazine.

A treehouse observatory is also available for guests to enjoy, complete with an 80-foot "stairway to heaven" spiral staircase (winding around a douglas fir tree) to reach it.

Cedar Creek Treehouse does not accept children under 10 or pets. It has a strict non-smoking policy.
